Training needs to cover the following aspects to be effective.
  1. Leadership - the role the owners play in the development of a mannerly dog is paramount.   A good owner will allow for and assist their dog towards understanding the appropriate guidelines and boundaries.  There is more to leadership than a correction or telling the dog "NO!" Language and communication with the dog needs to be clear, simple and easily understood for it to be effective.
  2. Expectations - the dog needs to have their expectation met which identifies the owner's competency to implement and direct the dogs' physical, emotional and social needs.  To do less will leave the dog in a state of confusion as to their role and how they fit into the family environment.
  3. Activity - all dogs are social beings that need to be actively involved with other dogs, people and a variety of environmental exchanges.  Socialization is more than just play; it helps the dog develop into a confident, stable and well adjusted adults.
  4. Direction - a calm dog is a thinking dog.  Training helps the dog learn to control itself.  Builds a format of communication.  Creates and establishes a working bond between owner and pet. Builds a system of safety and an ability to protect the dog.  Gives all dogs what they seek, a sense security and a sense of purpose.
